Young Diver Training for National Squad Selection

Today we started work with an elite young diver in order to rehab her knee injury and help her to gain successful selection onto the national talent programme.

Last year, Lucy finished 3rd on platform at the Junior British Diving Championships (and was in the top 10 for springboard too).

She’s currently part of the England Regional Talent Programme, but narrowly missed out on selection for the National Talent Programme at the last testing day, mainly due to her comparitively low vertical jump height as well as ongoing issues with a knee injury.

We will be working with Lucy over the summer to fully rehabilitate that knee and then drive up her vertical jump score as high as possible. If we are successful then (with a bit of luck) it should improve her chances of selection for the national programme in September.

…so keep your fingers crossed, and I’ll update you with how she gets on!
