Sprint champion at Core Cambridge

100m/200m sprinter (and BBC sports personality) Charlotte started working with us today in order to prepare for her current national championship circuit, for her World Games event in Mexico in July – and ultimately for the 2011 Special Olympics in Athens.

Charlotte’s at the very top of her sport at the moment, having recently won:

  • Gold 100m, Silver 200m, Silver 4×100 at the Special Olympics nationals in February
  • Gold 200m, Silver 100m in the Disability Sport England nationals
  • Silver in the 200m at the Special Olympics indoor nationals at Cardiff just a few days ago

…as well as a coveted “BBC Look East Disabled Sports Performer of the Year 2009″ award, at the end of last year.

We’ll be working with Charlotte to help raise her performance and reduce injury, with particular focus on her next major competition, which is the 1st World Games for Athletes with Downs Syndrome, to be held in Mexico in September.

Charlotte is currently in-line to be one of only 8 track athletes in the UK to attend the Special Olympics in Athens in 2011, and we hope that the training we put in place for her will help her to be victorious on that occasion.

In these shots of her session today, you can see Matt lending his particular brand of therapy tough love onto Charlotte’s knee, and Harry beginning coaching work on the fundamental movement patterns.
