Random things I saw at work today, pt. 2

When I walked out of the office door and saw this gentlemen – on his bicycle, between Nicole’s knees, in our reception area – I immediately thought that this was a candidate for my new ‘random things I saw at work today’ section :) As it happens it’s also a pretty good example of the types of clients we see…

The client came to us with a ongoing knee issue that he thought may be related to his cycling volume.

His initial screening showed that it was quite likely to be a muscular imbalance issue, but we wanted to check out the positioning of his cycling too. …so we got his bike into the centre, checked out his riding position, foot alignment, cleat position and play etc. As it turns out, the client had done a great job of the bike set-up, but the effect of the muscular imbalance was really obvious in watching the knees.

Having confirmed that the bike set-up was ok, it was simply a matter of taking the client though a bunch of exercises he could do to help stabilise his hip; Give it a week or two and the knee pain will be a thing of the past.

Easy! (when you know how :)
