2009/10 Powerlifting Varsity Match at Core Cambridge

This weekend saw us play host to the university varsity powerlifting match (Cambridge vs Oxford for those that don’t know). The result was a convincing win for Oxford with a score of 1203 to Cambridge’s 995 points.

In a powerlifting competition, each competitor has to perform three lifts – Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift – and points are scored according to how much weight is lifted (relative to their bodyweight) in each discipline.

Oxford’s top three lifters scored: (Squat, Bench, Deadlift, Total – in Kg)
Dan: S227 B155 D240 T414
Luke: S230 B155 D290 T396
Carl: S180 B105 D200 T392

Cambridge scored:
Jerrell S210 B155 D255 T387
Alex S165 B125 D195 T322
Alp S135 B80 D160 T285

The competition was a great day, really friendly and well mannered, and it was an absolute pleasure to host the event.
